Power and Performance

Under the hood, the SE, SEL, and SEL Plus trim levels feature a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that generates 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The Limited and Ultimate trims feature a 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.

Each trim level comes with front-wheel drive, though you can opt for an all-wheel-drive system if that’s your preference. In addition, all models apart from the Limited and Ultimate editions have a 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC. In contrast, the two top-tier trims have a 7-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission.

Exterior Features

While all of the trims look similar at a glance, they have subtle exterior differences that make them unique. For example, the SE features 16-in alloy wheels, the SEL and SEL Plus have 17-inch alloy wheels, and the Limited and Ultimate trims have 18-inch alloy wheels.

In addition, while all models have LED daytime running lights, the SEL Plus on up feature front fog lights to help you see during less-than-favorable weather conditions. You also get LED taillights with the Limited and Ultimate trims.

Interior Features

Inside the cabin, the SE, SEL, and SEL Plus  feature cloth seats, whereas the Limited and Ultimate trims have leather seats. The SE and SEL also come standard with a 6-way adjustable driver seat, as opposed to the 8-way power driver seat that comes with the SEL Plus, Limited, and Ultimate trims. In addition, all trims apart from the base level feature a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob as an added luxury.

Entertainment and Connectivity

Every Hyundai Kona is prepared to keep you and your passengers safe on the road ahead. All models apart from the top-tier Ultimate edition have a 7-inch color touchscreen display audio system. The Ultimate features an 8-inch color touchscreen with navigation to help you get to your next destination with ease.

The SEL Plus edition on up also have the Infinity Premium Audio with Clari-Fi Music Restoration and Technology. This feature comes with an external amp and eight speakers. As an added convenience, all trims feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Safety Features

They all have an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control with traction control and brake assist, a tire pressure monitoring system, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision-avoidance assist.

The SEL and SEL Plus also come standard with a blind-spot collision warning, lane change assist, and a rear cross-traffic collision warning. In addition, the Ultimate edition has forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection and a parking distance warning.
