Comparing the 2021 Hyundai Elantra and Sonata Sedans

21 elantra vs sonata canva 4-15

Hyundai has two great sedans in its lineup. The 2021 Elantra is a sporty small sedan, and the Sonata is a sleek midsize sedan. Both of these Hyundai's have a long list of standard features, come with advanced safety features, and offer the latest technology. Here is a comparison of the 2021 Elantra and the 2021 Sonata.

The Exterior Features

The Sonata and Elantra have slightly different exterior looks, but they share several features. Both come with LED taillights, heated side exterior mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, LED daytime running lights, and alloy wheels. Both are four-door sedans, but the Elantra is narrower than the Sonata. Even though it gained some length for the 2021 model, the Elantra is slightly shorter than the Sonata.

The Engine and Performance

The Elantra SE, SEL, and Limited models all come standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with 147 horsepower. The new N Line has a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder with 201 horsepower, and the N trim has an even more powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 275 horsepower. The hybrid model will have a 1.6-liter gas engine and an electric motor.

Power for the Sonata comes from a four-cylinder gas engine with 191 horsepower. A turbo four-cylinder gas engine with 180 horsepower is optional, and you can also opt for the hybrid version of the Sonata. It has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor that combines to generate 192 horsepower.

The Technology Highlights

Both the Elantra and the Sonata come standard with an 8-inch touch screen and Bluetooth. The Elantra comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the Sonata has the standard wired version. A 10.25-inch touch screen is optional for either sedan, and you can also get navigation, an upgraded stereo system, and wireless device charging. An eight-speaker stereo is optional for the Elantra, and the Sonata has an upgraded 12-speaker stereo available.

The Safety Features

Every Sonata and Elantra comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic braking, and pedestrian detection. The Sonata also has adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist, along with a driver attention warning system. The Elantra also comes standard with a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and offers adaptive cruise control as an option. Both the Sonata and the Elantra offer rear automatic braking. If you choose the Sonata, you can get a surround-view monitor and Hyundai's Smart Parking Assist system if you bump up to the Limited trim.

The N Line Elantra

The Elantra is the sportier sedan of the two, and it's made even sportier with the N Line model. This comes with a peppy turbo engine, a six-speed manual transmission, unique 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and sport-tuned steering. The N Line also has extra bolstering for the front seats, and the cabin features sporty touches such as a three-spoke steering wheel and a red stripe on the shifter.

The Hyundai Elantra and Sonata might have some of the same basic features, but these are two very different sedans. The Elantra offers a sporty trim, and the Sonata provides better fuel economy. You decide which one is best for you and come visit us at Crain Hyundai of Fayetteville.

4 Impressive Features of the 2023 Hyundai Elantra N

The automotive market is currently flooded with SUVs, but there are still people out there who prefer a well-made, high-performing sporty sedan like the Hyundai Elantra N. It's been out for a couple of years now, and the 2023 model is the best iteration so far. Let's take a look at some of the features you'll find when you check out this car at your local Hyundai dealer. 1. The High-Performing Engine If you take a peek under the Elantra N's hood, then you'll find a 2-liter turbo GDI four-cylinder engine. It has plenty of power to provide you with a ride experience that lets you feel commanding on the road. The engine produces 289 lb-ft of torque and 276 hp. You can expect to achieve around 22 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. The highway fuel rating is particularly pleasing. People who regularly travel long distances won't break the bank when stopping for gas. 2. The Comfortable, Dynamic Handling The Elantra N handles beautifully. It's been manufactured to provide a performance with tight cornering, sporty driving dynamics, and tons of precision. You'll have impeccable tire grip on the road even when you're driving at speed. The eLSD helps you maximize turning speed and traction as it distributes additional torque to the outer wheels when you're turning corners. The high-performance brakes provide maximum stopping power no matter how fast you're driving. 3. The Intuitive Safety System Hyundai Safety Sense equips your vehicle with a vast range of safety features to help you feel more secure on your journeys. The driver attention warning aspect is a particularly fantastic feature for drivers who frequently need to drive early in the morning or late at night when they might be drowsy. It's a feature that's often missing from many of the most popular vehicles on the market, making the Elantra N extra desirable for having it. Driver attention warning monitors you while you drive and alerts you when your attention is dwindling. Other features you'll find include lane-keeping assist, blindspot collision avoidance assist, lane-following assist, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist. 4. The Tech-Filled Interior Stay connected with the two 10.25-inch displays inside the vehicle. You can track your driving data on a cleanly designed interface. Both screens have dynamic graphics to make sure you're up-to-date on what's going on with your vehicle and outside of it.
