2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid

The 2023 Elantra Hybrid has two trim options: Blue and Limited. While they may seem identical at first glance, each model's unique design and tech features distinguish it from its sibling. In terms of exterior design, the Blue model comes with projector headlights, bulb taillights, a black front grille, and black window trim, all of which are unavailable on the Limited version. It also drives on 16-inch alloy wheels, unlike its more luxurious counterpart, which uses 17-inch alloy wheels. Other exclusive design features on the Limited trim include LED headlights and taillights, a dark chrome front grille, and chrome window trim. At 3,068 pounds of curb weight, the Limited model is also slightly heavier than the base trim, which weighs approximately 2,965 pounds.

Both Elantra Hybrid models use a 1.6-liter direct-injection engine paired with a 32 Kilowatt electric motor. This hybrid powerplant has a maximum output of 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet torque. To complete the drivetrain, the Elantra Hybrid's engine teams up with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to deliver responsive handling and seamless transitions between gasoline and electric power. Four-wheel-drive is the default configuration on both versions of the Elantra Hybrid.

The Elantra Hybrid scores highly in driveability, handling, and overall performance for its low price tag. The standard engine and electric motor combo on the Hybrid deliver more torque than conventional Elantra models, ensuring the car doesn't struggle up steep roads. The Hybrid also scores above average in acceleration, making the sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 9 seconds. Fuel economy is also excellent on the Elantra Hybrid, with the base trim getting a combined EPA rating of 54 miles per gallon.
